TNT: Evilution (1st half) | HMP | Crispy Doom | Long OverDOOMed E4a
Next on the list of official releases is Final Doom. I have never fully completed either of these IWADs, though I at least played parts of TNT in the 90s. I know it seems to catch some flak; time to find out why.
This playthrough took me long enough that I needed to post it in "halves" - which I have split very much by in-game progress and not time consumed, as you might surmise from the relative brevity of this video. Heck, this half is shorter even while including a look through a few parts of the Final Doom manual!
To be honest, I enjoyed most of the first half of TNT. (It probably helps that I'm a big fan of techbase maps and the 90/45-degree angles of E1.) I found Wormhole's idea neat in particular, although the inexplicable sounds I could hear from beyond the walls at one point were driving me up them.
There was one very notable exception: one particular room in Metal with a ton of hitscanners and distance between you and them, and zero cover. As it turns out, it feels pretty garbage when multiple hitscanners have no trouble hitting you from varying angles at 300 yards when you can barely score a single hit on them.
