Echo Point Nova full playthrough, part 1 (all locations visited)
1I've been looking forward to this ever since I first played its demo over a year ago. Taking the Severed-Steel formula outdoors to an open world? Sign me up. But just how much bigger is that open world now compared to the demos?
Good news: The open world is several times bigger, and the game provides plenty of stuff to do in it. The endgame is a rather neat surprise. (I didn't do absolutely everything in this video - there will be a follow-up to clean up what I missed.)
Bad news: I still wish the open world were bigger, and that there were perhaps more meaningful metroidvania aspects - but given the amount of movement tech in this game, I imagine that'd be a tall order without creating problems.
On that last note, I certainly noticed changes between the first and second demo versions, and further between that and the full game, that overall make the game flow better with less potential for excessive confusion. (They also double-bound interact to the melee button instead of slow-mo this time, and marked it clearly in the menu, which is a very welcome fix since the later demo version I played.)
Given that we've seen Severed Steel expanded after launch, and given how the final achievement in Echo Point Nova is phrased in terms of "launch content", I have to wonder what else might be in store, and I'll be happy to come back and find out.
