Widely considered the worst official Doom map, and unfortunately for good reason. It isn’t so much difficult as it is sloppy and unfinished, with weird design choices like gunning down single file rows of hitscanners in samey looking sewer pipes, and whatever that fake wall blue key ambush is. The most frustrating thing here isn’t any of the combat encounters but rather finding the secrets, several of which are between the sewer pipes and only open up after you go through very precise spots.
It’s not my most hated map though, that would be Mount Pain. Habitat is easy on a casual playthrough, and in fact you can actually go straight to the end since no keys are required!
TNT’s last third sadly loses a lot of steam, and this is likely why people aren’t too kind to it in modern times. From this point onwards most of the levels are either unnecessarily bloated or underdeveloped, the saving graces being the excellent 28 (Heck) and 29 (River Styx), so it picks up steam again at the least.
