To The Moon - "Finding River"
Composed by Kan Gao
Arranged by A. Posipanko

Imagine that you could re-live your life. Imagine that you could go back to the beginning, change one moment, and fulfill your lifelong wish.
You can make your greatest dream come true...but it will be the last thing you ever do.
"Finding River" is a musical retelling of the indie adventure video game To the Moon. Sigmund Corp. uses a technology to create artificial memories for clients. As these memories conflict with the patient's real memories, the procedure is only legal on people that do not have much time left to live. You play as two doctors who travel to meet with their dying client Johnny and plan to alter his memories to fulfill his final wish: to go to the moon. As the player goes through Johnny's memories, they are introduced to his wife River, who passed away sometime before the beginning of the game.
This medley begins with "For River", a free-flowing and hopeful melody that Johnny composer as a tribute of his love for River. Here, there is also the introduction of the "heartbeat monitor" motif, acting as a constant reminder for the audience that Johnny does not have much longer left to live. It transitions throughout all the chapters of life: the joy, sorrow, and mystery. As the story and music both hit their climax, there is a sweeping return to the main melody, finally ending quietly. Despite all that Johnny experiences throughout his life, in the end, he finds peace and is able to find River again.

The 8-Bit Orchestra was inspired by the University of Maryland Gamer Symphony Orchestra, the first collegiate ensemble dedicated to performing video game music.
8-Bit pieces are arranged by students, conducted by students, and performed by students of the University of Delaware. The group organizes concerts twice a year: at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Starting with a group of around 40, now reaching nearly 60 members from a wide variety of majors, the 8-Bit Orchestra is continuing to grow. Today, we are the largest instrumental music RSO on campus, and have been invited to perform at off-campus events like Minefaire, the Minecraft fan convention.
