Together Forever - Crossing Souls - The End - Lets Play Gameplay
We have reached the end. The journey was filled with that sweet sweet nostalgia. I came away content with what I played thinking that this game is highly story rich with moments that will make you smile.
The music was exceptional and had that strong 80's synth flair but switched it up by mixing other genres of music. Great examples of this were the punk music playing in the graveyard that seemed to drive the combat scenes along to a faster beat, and the goofy classic Saturday morning cartoon portions in the cut scenes.
Bright and colourful, the game was beautiful showcasing not just great pixel graphics but also fun, hand drawn cut scenes in the vein of old Saturday morning cartoons that made me feel like grabbing a bowl of super sugary covered deliciousness for breakfast.
A few things did fall short for me though. The combat didn't feel engaging and felt like it was not up to the same standard the rest of the games mechanics showcased. It was more just whacking at everything with out putting too much thought into it. The only exception to this were the boss fights where they really put forth more fun and varying ideas into play.
And, as I had already stated the saving points felt misplaced in some spots. Which caused frustration at a point when I hit a bug causing me to restart an entire area. Unless there is some sort of branching path or game mechanic revolving around choices that would affect game, I feel like fixed save points in a linear game are unnecessary.
However, these are minor points as the rest of the games ideas create a very enjoyable experience and the hard work and passion from the team shines through.
At the end of the day I still think this was a great game and would recommend this game to anyone looking for a great story with amazing music and fun nostalgia. This game is a buy.👍
