The Tomb Raider II intro begins with a dramatic prelude set against the towering mountains of the Great Wall of China. Snowflakes drift through the cold air as the camera pans over the ancient fortress walls, covered in vines and snow. The scene transitions to a group of explorers attempting to breach a sealed chamber. Inside, torchlight flickers over ancient stone, revealing a golden artifact embedded in a pedestal — the legendary Dagger of Xian, said to grant the power of the dragon to whoever pierces their heart with it.
One of the men, clad in black and clearly more sinister than the others, forcefully removes the dagger. Instantly, the ground begins to shake. Cracks form in the stone walls, and a chilling roar echoes from within the mountain. Suddenly, an enormous dragon-like guardian awakens, lunging at the intruders. In the chaos, the artifact thief escapes, but not without consequences.
The action then cuts to our heroine, Lara Croft, as she traverses the perilous cliffs near the Great Wall. She scales steep ledges with agility, narrowly avoiding deadly traps hidden in the ruins. Her confident demeanor, iconic braid, and dual pistols return in full force.
