TONIN:兎忍 - Demo (PC-Steam) - Gameplay Sample
TONIN is an open-world Japanese-style × Sci-Fi slash action game!
This game is in the final days of its Kickstarter campaign, please help make the full game happen by supporting the project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/awesome0920/tonin-japanese-style-sci-fi-slash-action/description
The demo is very simple in content, it's an open world with a collection of different robots and some bosses. But the gameplay is very rich for the demo, it's a mix of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in terms of hack'n'slash gameplay and the gimmick of cutting everything, with Dark Souls in other mechanics, such as healing items, checkpoints and progression mechanics.
I was really impressed with the parry, it's really fun to parry a lot in sequence against these enemies that are much bigger than the protagonist while building up the bar to be able to cut everything down, I found it a really cool gameplay loop so far.
There's also a grappling hook to jump on enemies while spinning and climbing trees or to pull elements from the scenery to cut and then kick enemies. It's also a pretty cool mechanic, although I didn't use it much during the demo.
It's so blatantly inspired by Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance that one of the campaign's stretch goals is to bring in the composer from Rising and Bayonet to compose music for the game. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it'll get there, but it would be really cool.
And 3D action games with anime-style girls are one of my favorite genres, especially when they're not gaccha. If you're interested in the game, please support the project.
