Descriptions of some apps:

1. Download Shuttle is similar in many ways to Internet Download Manager in PC. If you know Internet Download Manager or (IDM) for PC, this app is very similar. You can say it is the Internet download manager for mac. It is the a fast download accelerator and manager. You can download multiple files at the same time and also it guarantees that if you pause a download, when you resume the download again, you will start from where you have left off, not from the beginning. Also, it has very simple and easy-to-use interface.

2. Split&Concat: as its name suggests, its main functions are to split a file into small pieces with manageable sizes and to concatenate or combine those small pieces back together as one single file. So what is the advantage of this? Well, let’s imagine that you want to send a file which is 400MB through Gmail. But you can’t do that because Google only allows you to send a file which is 25MB or below. This is when this app comes in handy, you can just split that file into smaller pieces which have the sizes of 25MB or below. By doing that, you can send this 400MB file to your friend successfully. Then your friend can use this Split&Concat app to join all small pieces back together as one. I also understand that right now you can also use Google Drive or iCloud to store any big size files. However, once in a while you may want to use this app as well. Like in a situation that you have a very funny video that you want to share with your friend, but you want them to do something for you first before you give them that video. It’s like a puzzle. Well, you can give them piece by piece every time they complete a task that you have assigned them to do. Once your friends have completed all the tasks, you will get all the pieces and they can use this app to join the pieces together to watch the video.

3. WinRAR or UnRAR: I think you if you used to own a PC, you may know Winrar. What this app does is it allows you to compress a file or a folder which contains many files in it to become a single file which is more secure and not easily attacked by viruses. This is when you use Winrar. Of course, you may think that MacOS is not affected by viruses like Windows so you don’t have to worry about virus attacking your file and therefore, you don’t need Winrar. Well, in the past, maybe. But MacOS is attacked by viruses or malware, even not not a lot. But better be safe than sorry. What I like the most about the most about this app is that you can compress a lot of files into a single file which is much easier to keep or share with people and when you want to use those files, just use Winrar to extract the compressed file.

4. Amphetamine: If you know Caffein app, this app has the same functions. In fact, it is the newer version of Caffein. If you don’t want your Mac to sleep while your app is running. Just use this app to help. It is simple, fast and very convenient to use.
