[Top 100 Modern VGTunes] #093 - Persona 4 - Game
Console: Playstation 2
Developer: Atlus
Original Release: 2008
Song Comments:
Persona 4 has a nice soundtrack, but most of the likeable tunes are fully vocalized songs. I always thought that the instrumentals were rather lackluster in comparison, with the exception of this gem. It's a retro tune played in a dungeon made up of large blocks and a hilarious (albeit very tough) end boss. The use of modern instruments makes this stand out. It's quite catchy, but nothing too great.
Game Comments:
I have to say that I liked Persona 3 a tad bit better. Its plot was paced a lot better, with plot twists in regular intervals. In Persona 4, the beginning is great, but the backstory doesn't really progress for a good part of the game. When it finally gets great again, having to reload your save after a bad ending when you picked the wrong answer in a multiple choice-dialogue is just annoying. It's still a great game though, mostly due to its characters. Chie Satonaka is probably my favorite video game character of all time.
