The Toshiba Thrive Tablet is a 10" tablet from Toshiba that comes with a little extra. Its got the same specs as every other Android tablet on the market. The Dual coal Tegra 2 processor, 2MP front facing camera & 5MP camera with Flash, running Android 3.1. But that not what make the Toshiba Thrive different; it's the ports. The Thrive is the first and only table to house a full HDMI port, Full USB port, micro USB, and full SD card port. Toshiba's aim here is to provide a full assortment of ports for the tablet user. Price from $429 for the 8Gb model to $579 for the $32Gb Wi-Fi model. The Toshiba Thrive is also competing on a price level to attract consumers in every way.

HARDWARE

The Toshiba Thrive's hardware is built with durability and consumer ease in mind. Its got an industrial finish on the back to give firm grip while holding. The tablet battery bay cover is swappable with different colors. The battery itself is changeable. The ports are well concealed and easily accessible to the consumer. The Tablet is on the slightly larger side but feels well weighted in you hands and doesn't slip out of your hands when holding it.

Thrive & Ports

So what's the difference here with Toshiba Thrive, besides having all the various ports you need today in computing. Toshiba does realize that accompaning software will aid the use of the extra port. Thus the inclusion of a File manager App, printshare app( Allows you to print to any printer on your network), media player center( centralized media player experience), Loginme, Quickoffice and more.

File Manager: its as simple as it sounds, the app gives you the ability to locate and source your files either from your internal storage, SD card or USB thumb drive

PrintShare: Allows you to connect and print to any printer on your network. IF your printer is not a network capable printer. All you have to do is download the software from printshare.com to you PC or mac and you are good to go.

Media Player center: is a centralize avenue to view your movies, pictures and listen to music, you can also access your home server as well as rss feed from here.

Conclusion

Toshiba looks to have created the first Tablet geared towards productivity. The Amount of full sized ports help the user access data quickly effective. It very surprisingly how useful I found each of the ports. Now I didn't have to upload content to the tablet from my pc. I simple plugged in a drive or flash card and I was good to go. The added features of the file manager is a plus that helps organize all the chaos with the multitude ports.

Printshare is also another great feature set added to the Toshiba Thrive tablet, that goes a long way in increasing the productivity of the device. Battery life is superb at 11 hours, plus the fact you can swap the battery out is a bigger plus. My only downside to the Toshiba Thrive is the weight and design of the table; it could have been slimmed and sleeker. But I guess you do have to make sacrifices for all the listed ports. Which is a big plus in this case. In all this is a stellar first effort by Toshiba in the Android tablet arena and we can only hope for improvements from her eon in the future.
