Before, this score almost seemed out of reach, as I believed I'd only be able to accomplish this using the harder Seiga route, "hard Seiga" as I name it, which I wasn't quite getting the hang of even with significant practice; once I realised how to properly execute it, however, the score started to seem possible, and I set it as my new goal. This was around the start of November last year. I again started to improve my route throughout the game where I could, and most importantly Stage 4, and eventually started to grind. I took it slowly since Christmas was coming up, and wasn't getting much of anywhere just yet throughout the remainder of 2019. I played Extra for a while before Christmas since I figured I wouldn't be able to get 3.4 billion before that point.

2020 was the real game changer: analysing a new score run that popped up in February (3.476b by Lyrica), among ones I had watched before, I gained new knowledge about how some strategies worked as well as alternative or better strategies I could use, and increased my potential by another great amount. Most importantly, perhaps, I realised that there was an easier way to do Seiga which still gave a lot more score than doing her safely; in fact, it seemed closer to "hard Seiga". I immediately proceeded to implement this route and resumed the grind.

I also finally decided to implement what I call "hard Stage 1", or "hard s1" for short, which is filling up your gauge before Yuyuko, so you can trance her instead of being forced to bomb her first non, which sends you into Stage 2 with a full gauge, netting a lot of extra PIV from its opening section. This strategy is one of the hardest in the game to execute consistently, as it's both hard and reliant on the ghost enemies' random spawns, which, while it can be accounted for, can occasionally mess you up out of your control, if a ghost simply spawns too far away for you to reach on time. Over months of either on-and-off or active runs, I slowly improved at it, learning more about how it worked and gaining more consistency, and recently my consistency became high enough that I started to find it worth resetting runs over (that is, I will restart if I fail to trance Yuyuko's first non). Previously, I had always tried to get it, but if I didn't, I'd just continue the run with the bomb. In this run I got the trance late, which loses quite a bit, but is still better than bombing.

There are many other improvements I have made over when I was at 3.2b level as well, but it's honestly too much to go over; I have gotten /much/ better at the game and quite a lot has changed since then. To put it shortly, I have really gotten into serious territory with this score and my new potential. After a grind during late February I got this run on its final day, and already quickly realised I'd be able to go for 3.5b; I again analysed Leo's Marisa WR run (3.647b), and found even more things I could improve upon. At the time of getting this run, my sum of bests was 3.580b, but as you can see in the video, it is now pretty much at the WR level. Do note that this is far and away from actually being able to get the record; your sum of bests is always going to be higher than what you can realistically achieve at that point in time. If I were to go for WR, I would want my sum of bests to be well over 3.7b.

About this run itself, my earlygame execution was not the best, but I caught up during Stages 4 and 5, which were quite solid. In Stage 6 I made a big mistake in failing to chain the laser yinyangs properly, which cost me gauge and forced me to collect spirits from the bombpiece section, losing PIV in the process, as you are forced to collect blue ones. This cost a very notable amount of score; I lose 65 million compared to my practice PB in the stage.

Anyway, for 3.5b what I'd basically have to do is to get hard Stage 1 (trance Yuyuko immediately), use the newly found improvements, and not mess up in Stage 6. I can still go much higher than this run, and I will, but I'm really happy to be able to checkmark the 3.4b milestone for now. :) I am currently taking a break and will likely grind for another PB soon or later.

If you have any questions about this game not answered by the FAQ, such as the strategy used in this run, things that happened during it, or the score system in general, ask away! :)
