Toxikk - The Glorious Rebirth of the Arena Shooter!
1The Arena Shooter is making a comeback. I talked about this in the UT2k4 video. Here's one of the best new games in the genre. A game that is very heavily inspired by Unreal Tournament, and more so than any other successfully captures the feel of the original. Toxikk was funded via a successful Kickstarter and is on Steam Early Access. The game was built using Unreal Engine 4, and looks great without needing uber hardware. The game still under development, and is shaping up to be a modern arena shooter masterpiece. Toxikk also has Steam Workshop support, which is a major plus.
Toxxik also features fairly large wide-open multiplayer maps, and every type of weapon imaginable, from sniping rifles and rocket launchers, to flame throwers. There's also a number of vehicles players can man during game play, including giant mechs, and hovercraft that fly seamlessly through the air.
