If this episode seems like it's more unpolished and/or filled with more corrections than usual, that's probably because it is. A number of personal matters came up this month and took time away from working on this, and I wanted to finish it before the start of October so that I could start planning ahead for what to do then.

Also, you may want to turn on subtitles, as I had a number of difficulties with audio balancing and microphone reverb for this episode.

So what's on the docket for today? Why, the Touhou Project's own genderbent incarnation of Prince Shōtoku, Toyosatomimi no Miko! With a basis like that, I get to elaborate on a part of Japanese history that's usually not discussed in detail outside of Japan itself: the Asuka Period, in which Japan faced a conflict between embracing Chinese and Korean ideas like Buddhism and Confucianism, versus holding true to traditional identity and values.

I eagerly await the ensuing "history of japan" comments.

Minor correction: at 11:16, the image caption is rather vague, and suggests that Soga no Iruka's soldiers slew Yamashiro no Ōe; while this incident did end Prince Shōtoku's bloodline, it was because they took their own lives.
