TPCast unboxing and setup
38Well this didn't go nearly as well as I'd hoped. I promise, I'll get better at these... It was my first time, be gentle... D;
So, I'm not sure if I said it enough in the video but the written instructions that come in the box are garbage. Toss them ASAP and pull down the client. Use that to put your headset together.
Setup was kind of painful and even with adding the second NIC the new router took a good chunk of my gigabit speeds away dropping me down to 350~450 Mbps from ~950.
The solution to that little problem is to give the TPCast router a static IP address. Instructions here: https://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-windows-10.htm
You can ignore the part about the DNS settings. The router doesn't reach out to the internet (unless you really want it to for some reason) so it doesn't need the DNS configured.
As for the device itself, I didn't notice any lag. The only issue I had with it losing signal was when I put my hand over the device.
Comfort wise, if you use over the ear headphones they're going to sit weird. You'll have to either get used to it or swap headphones. There are very few spots the TPCast can sit and not interfere with your headset. This is a pretty major negative IMO. Not big enough to not use the device I own but big enough to question whether or not I'd have purchased if I'd tried it before picking it up. Worrying that your headset is going to fall off is pretty damn immersion breaking.
I'll give feedback in future videos as I use the device more and come to learn any quirks it may have.
