In this unboxing / review, we’ll be taking a detailed look at the Transformers Studio Series ’86 Voyager Class Ironhide! This is Ironhide as we saw him (oh so briefly) in the 1986 animated Transformers movie from Sunbow.

Both modes look outstanding. He’s not perfect, but for this price point, the figure is very well done and has a great shelf presence.

Articulation is about as good as it gets for a figure at this price. About the only thing missing is an ab crunch, but you won’t have any issues getting this Autobot in some great poses.

Quality overall is pretty good. I do have a thigh that is a little loose, and an unsightly gap in his Nissan Cherry Van mode, but everything else is done very well.

Overall value is on point with MSRP. I paid $32 USD at a local Target. I think this figure is definitely worth the price.

My conclusion – SS-86 17 Ironhide is a figure you’re certainly going to want to pick up if you’re a fan of the 1986 movie or cartoons. He looks the part, he’s fun to play with, accessories are fun, transformation is intuitive, and just overall fits right in with the rest of that ’86 studio series line. It’s a shame he was taken out in the shuttle by Megatron and the Decepticon forces. I would’ve enjoyed seeing this character fight side-by-side with Rodimus Prime as much as I enjoyed him with Optimus.
