This basics video tutorial shows you how to create a simple saw blade trap the easy way in GameMaker Studio.

The idea is quite simple. You have have a sprite that animates and well, you can trigger it by looping with the alarm event. It has in essance two states: one idle where you can make the transparency a bit lower or tint it with another color and one where the animation is being done by setting the image_speed to 1. And that is pretty much it. Easy and effective.
