Trauma Center Second Opinion 1-1 XS in 0'23"517 [TAS] [Obsolete]
This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This means input was recorded for each individual frame with assistance of external tools such as save states.
In this video, I clear TCSO's 1-1 operation as fast as possible while obtaining an XS rank. There is quite a lot of frame perfect stuff going on, like stitching and glass extracting in as few frames as possible and some gel tricks.
The previous video for this operation I uploaded could be improved with new gel tricks I figured out watching some japanese TAS on Nico Nico, and it resulted in a 24 frames improvement, which is very nice for a single IL. The tricks are described below:
* For the incision, in this operation you can rub some gel over the incision area before the guideline shows up, which saves you the frames of waiting for it to appear spraying it with gel to make it green. This saves 3-5 frames, I didn't bother with too much of a detailed analysis.
* For the bandaging, I redid some tests and it seems my previous conclusions were wrong, keeping A held down actually speeds up the disinfection process, with a catch: You can only keep A held down for 11 frames before it stops outputting gel, so you need ro release the button and press it again for a new spray. Two full uses are needed, along with some extra tapping to make the center heal faster, so it effectively takes 55-65 frames to get the OK, since you still need to wait for the gel to take effect.
These improvements will make me go back to TAS the other levels as well, so expect a revamp of every operation so far.
If you're wondering why it seems like I'm waiting at times, it's because of in-op dialogue that prevents you from performing inputs until it scrolls by, forcing me to wait a bit to start moving again.
At the end, you can skip the post-op dialogue by choosing to return to episode select. You can also skip regular text by pressing the - button.
Total number of frames: 1411 (24 frames improvement)
Game runs at 60fps, operation time: 0'23"517 (400ms improvement)
(We start counting frames on the first frame the phrase "Begin Operation" appears on screen, and we stop counting on the first frame the phrase "Operation Success" appears)
