Trials of Mana Remake Stream Archive, Part 1
Well this game is great. Easily the best gameplay engine of any Mana game, by a significant margin. I still have a ton of sentiment points for Legend of Mana, and its engine is pretty solid even without that, but this game is just incredible. Simple mechanics that are easy to learn, but difficult to master. Most of the challenge is in actively accounting for the enemy's actions, rather than difficulty of executing your own, which opens the doors for a lot of really fun boss fights. There are only so many kinds of attacks they actually give enemies and bosses, but it never really ends up quite the same. And that's good, too. Being given things you're used to seeing, but implemented in a new way. This lets you rely on pre-existing knowledge and experience, but still makes you think on your feet.
The game looks good, the music is a good facelift, while keeping the original compositions and key samples intact, the story is largely unaffected. The translation is... Consistent with the '05 wave of games.
Really, I don't have anything to complain about with this game. And that's rare. Broadcasted live on Twitch -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/facetraccoon
