In Truth be tolled, you play as the gate keeper to the kingdom. You listen to the stories of the people, then decide if they can enter or not. You earn gold for letting people in, and can purchase upgrades. It would be great to see what a more fleshed out version looks like.

Developer description of Truth be Tolled
"The life of the city guard can be tough, and sometimes boring, but when it seems the king does little to service the city and keep its citizens happy, it's up to you to make sure your defenses are sturdy and your healthcare is cheap.
Manage your money, population, and kingdom in this endless game made originally in 48 hours for SA Game Jam by Andrea Hayes, Benjamin Crooks, and Bracken Hall
"Truth Be Tolled tells a story from the perspective of a gatekeeper in a medieval town. The fate of the town being at least partially dependent on the decisions they make, like who they accept into town and how much money they collect. This sets up some difficult choices, as the circumstances of the town begin to grow dire, as well as some enjoyably silly choices, like answering “What is my occupation here?”. While the story cut’s off early, presumably due to a lack of development time, Truth Be Tolled is a strong concept worth exploring."
