Turbo Outrun Reimagined PC v0.4.0 test 3 - trying Turbo OutRun & OutRun w.i.p. modes!
Trying out the Turbo OutRun and OutRun w.i.p. modes in the just-released "test 3" of version 0.4.0 of the free fan game "Turbo OutRun Reimagined," by @Sk1ds87 , on PC! It's available to download or play in-browser from https://sk1ds.itch.io/outrun-clone ; I'm playing the downloaded version.

The new (to me) Turbo OutRun mode was pretty fun and felt the most polished of any mode so far, with lots of really sharp-looking stages. Not sure I understood what the "Rival" car meant as far as completing races goes--they were just always a little ways ahead of me ; P--and not sure I understood how the selectable powerup at the end of a race--engine, tires, or turbo--works; I picked Engine, but then got offered the same stuff at the end of the next race--so maybe the power-up effect here, unlike the "Original" mode, only lasts a single race? So I probably should have stuck with Engine? I dunno. = P
The brakes overheating message kept popping up and I dunno how I can like not use the brakes and there was no brake powerup (maybe tires would help?) so I dunno I probably should'a turned off the warnings or something 'cause there didn't seem like much I could do about it. : P Deal with it, brakes! Sheesh!
OutRun w.i.p. mode still feels very in-progress but that made it a convenient test-bed for comparing the four initially available cars, and I seem unable to keep cars 2-4 on the road to about the same degree, so I guess I'll stick to car 1. = P Car 1's control feels really good! = D Maybe I would've done better with the other cars if I'd kept the assists on, but I stubbornly want to play this like an arcade racer, and the assists say they slow the car down if you keep them on, which feels like a depressing thing to choose, so to heck with 'em! ; D
You can freely set car colors now (hm come to think of it maybe I'm dimly remembering you could do that last versions I tried months ago ^ _^)--but it kinda looked like the color reverted to the car's default color as it was flipping out after a crash? Also the driver--and now passenger--disappear during a crash, reappearing as soon as the car is back on the road, which is slightly jarring. ; )
