Turn On Super Resolution AI upscaling on Fire TV Stick (Sharper Image!)
Super Resolution AI upscaling is a feature exclusive to the Fire TV Cube (3rd Generation) that enhances lower-resolution content (below 4K) to appear sharper and clearer on 4K or higher-resolution TVs. This feature is not available on Firestick models (e.g., Firestick 4K, 4K Max, Lite) or other Fire TV devices, as they lack the necessary hardware and software support. If you’re using a Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen), here’s how to turn on or verify Super Resolution AI upscaling. For Firestick users, I’ll provide alternative ways to improve video quality.
Super Resolution AI upscaling is activated by default on the Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) and applies to all video content below 4K, including streaming apps and devices connected via the HDMI-In port. To ensure it’s enabled or to turn it on:
Go to the Home Screen:
Start at the main Fire TV Cube home screen.
Access Settings:
Scroll to the Settings gear icon (top or far right) and select it.
Alternatively, on older interfaces, scroll down to Settings.
Select Display & Sounds:
Scroll to and select Display & Sounds from the Settings menu.
Choose Display:
Select Display to access video settings.
Select Super Resolution:
Look for the Super Resolution option.
Verify it’s set to ON. If it’s OFF, select it and toggle to ON.
