I held M1 because i heard another strider, then decided to loot and let go of M1 to loot. A few moments later, after ending a sprint, the held M1 re-triggered and dumped the entire mag. Those two sets of firings, no mouse button was held. it only stopped after it ran out of ammo.

Then a few moments later, after button spamming, I couldn't close the emote wheel with escape or left/right clicking and so was forced to choose an option aloud.

Suffice to say the guy I was stalking at water plant was not taken by surprise.
