Shrapnel is a multiplayer extraction shooter developed using Unreal Engine 5, currently on Early Access for PC. In this talk, we will share what we learnt while optimizing the game servers for big amounts of players. This will include the most common server CPU bottlenecks like replication, animation, physics and garbage collection as well as solutions for them that we implemented.
