E3M6 (Episode 3 Mission 6: Mount Erebus) - 100% Walkthrough

Hey retrogamers!

Welcome back to watch another 100% Doom Episode! This time I am going to play the sixth mission of episode 3, which is called Mount Erebus. And this mission is quite fun. Yes, it has a lot of lava, and traps, which might damage you a lot if you don’t know where to go but once you start understanding, where and how to go, it’s actually nice open area map with awesome secrets and alternative exit.

But enough talking, let’s get down to business! This level apparently takes place in the volcanic crater, has 3 secrets and a secret exit, besides a lot of traps and lava.

1. Near the building you start off at, there is a vine building to the north. Open the door and inside are some teleporters. The one on the right will take you to a ledge with a plasma rifle. The left teleporter doesn’t count as a secret but it is necessary to use if you want 100% of everything.

2. The right torch in the marble room is also a secret door open it to access a bulk cell.

3. There is a platform besides the teleporter one. The platform has a chainsaw. Strafe run to get it. Please note that if you get the blue key before getting the chainsaw, you are not allowed to get the chainsaw and the secret anymore because getting the blue key causes the chainsaw platform to raise too high for you to reach it. So get the chainsaw before the blue key.

Normal exit

Once you have the blue key, mid west of this map, near to the platform with silver stairs and between red and gray building, there is a passage. Follow the path to the blue door. Open it, turn left and open the exit door, and step through the exit teleporter.

However, there is a secret exit

To access the secret map called Warrens, take the teleporter to a ledge overlooking the water. It is recommended to use invulnerability that you hopefully saved for this moment. You must be quick, because you may miss your chance to be invulnerable to the splash damage! Follow the narrow ledge to find the skull switch surrounded by short blue walls. Fire a rocket at the wall to rocket jump into the box behind you. Beware, once you jump into the box you cannot do anything else other than press the secret exit switch. So make sure you have collected everything before.

Alternatively, you can back up to the ledge in front of the chainsaw, aim yourself carefully, and strafe run towards it, falling in through the gap in the top.

There is an another way to exit this map to Mission 9. Do not jump into the box, just get near it, and then face the position of the switch correctly, and press the use key repeatedly until you get to the intermission screen. Note that this will not credit you for the secret, and therefore you will not get 100% secrets by doing this trick.
