ULTIMATE hand eye coordination challenge - Complete 100 hurdles in Perplexus Beast in ONE go
A few months ago I picked up a Perplexus Beast, a dexterity challenge puzzle in a plastic sphere shape. It looks really cool and when it arrived it was slightly larger than I expected.
The "Beast" is the medium difficulty level as I decided to skip the basic level, having full confidence that my hand-eye coordination is pretty good and should be able to take the challenge.... and of course I was very wrong, again.
The goal was to move the sphere around, so that the metal ball bearing inside can travel pass all the hurdles and reach the end, the 100th hurdle. Finishing the puzzle with its provided "check points" was already quite difficult, at 26th and 59th hurdle. But my ultimate goal was to complete this in one take from one to one hundred. Sounds easy but I can tell you it is pretty extreme for me. The frustration hits quite frequently with this puzzle.
It took me around 3 months to practice and play with it on and off for more than 10 hours to nail all the moves without hiccups. Then realising to film it whilst solving added more stress to the already quite stressful challenge, taking me more time to capture the whole run in 1 video. See if you can spot where I had to combine two clips where my camera overheated....
Hopefully this video captured the ball bearing well enough. I had and idea before which was to use a macro lens to capture the ball bearing in close-up, but then I think that will take even more time to find the camera angles AND completing the actual puzzle. Maybe a later time....
I also found a few short cuts to complete the puzzle, e.g. a simple jump from 15th to 100th etc. Anyway, I asked myself if I will get the Epic which is another level up with 140 hurdles, but I guess not for now....
