In this video, we unbox and check out the Retro-bit 6-button arcade controller designed for the Sega Genesis Mini and officially licensed by Sega.

The Sega Genesis Mini is finally here, Sega's answer to Nintendo's NES Classic Edition and Super NES Classic Edition. Retro-bit, a longtime partner of Sega, announced that they would have six button controllers available at the time that the Sega Mini Genesis launched. Well, the Sega Genesis Mini is here and so is the Retro-bit 6 button wired controller. Designed from the ground-up to perfectly emulate the OEM 6 button controller for the original Genesis, this controller directly addresses one of the Genesis Mini's shortcomings.

In the USA and Europe, the Genesis Mini, or Mega Drive Mini, only comes with a three-button controller. While this is exactly what the Genesis originally came with, it definitely leaves something to be desired, especially for fighting games. Thankfully, Sega designed the Genesis Mini and Mega Drive Mini with USB inputs for the controllers. That makes it easy for you to be able to use other controllers, however the beauty of the Retro-bit controllers is that they are, in fact, officially licensed and endorsed by Sega

I ordered my controller from CastlemaniaGames.com, and my controller arrived the day before my system. There are two different color variants available, a black and a transparent blue. On Retro-bits other Genesis controller releases, I've really liked the transparent blue so that is what I ordered for my Genesis Mini.

One of the nicest features about this controller is the cord. It's 10 ft long! I can sit pretty much anywhere in my game room or my living room and be able to sit comfortably. Thank you Retro-bit!

I have to admit, the controller feels virtually identical to Retro-bit Genesis releases from earlier this year. The D-Pad feels great, the ABC, XYZ buttons all feel responsive, and it does have the mode button on the top of the controller just like the original.

Overall, I think Retro-bit did a really nice job with this controller. At least initial testing in my hands, this feels great. If it is of the same quality as the other Retro-bit controllers, either the Genesis or the Saturn ones, I should have a great gaming experience.
