Unitree G1 Robot Jumping, Climbing Stairs, and Getting Pushed Around
Unitree has released a new video showcasing its G1 humanoid robot in action. The video highlights the robot's ability to jump, spin, climb stairs, and even recover from being pushed. This marks the transition of the G1 to a mass production model, making it a serious contender in the humanoid robot market.
Standing at 4 feet 4 inches, the G1 is shorter than many of its competitors, such as Tesla’s Optimus, Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, and Figure 02. It is also noticeably lighter, weighing 80 pounds, whereas most other humanoid robots exceed 100 pounds. One unique feature is its ability to fold down to under 3 feet, making it more convenient for storage and transport.
The G1 is designed to learn through imitation and simulation, much like other advanced robots. What sets it apart is its price. Starting at $16,000, it is positioned as a more budget-friendly option compared to other humanoid robots. While the price for Tesla’s Optimus is not confirmed, Elon Musk has mentioned it will cost less than half the price of a car. Boston Dynamics has not shared pricing for Atlas, but its Spot robot starts at around $75,000, making G1 a competitive choice for buyers.
