Upsad Down [NES Homebrew] || Nesdev Compo 2020
2A NES homebrew game submitted for Nesdev Compo 2020, made by F. Descharmes. A very wacky version of Tetris, held together with a very thin platform-wrapper, this game is one of the more unexpected entry in the 2020 compo line-up. Your mission is to Tetris your way through various challenges, meanwhile a breakout-ball is destroying your blocks. It is... special, to say the least.
This game is super cool, super original and at time frustrating and janky as heck. I like the idea and the base mechanics so so much; trying to Tetris whilst something is breaking your stack. It is so unique and a very cool twist on a classic concept. But some stages are just so evil in their design that I am not really sure what to think. I kinda like it, and I kinda hate it, at the same time. Add some jank with the breakout-ball clipping though blocks and, well, at least it was a fun and unique experience!
