Urtuk the Desolation Quick Look - everybody REALLY wants to kill us - Act 1 Gameplay - Twitch Stream
0Sometimes I want to stream something that isn't part of a series (at least yet), and that recently fell to Urtuk the Desolation. A game that is like a more focused Battle Brothers with a Darkest Dungeon style aesthetic. The story is simple: after you escape from jail as the main character (Urtuck but I'm not sure if it's pronounced like TurOK Dinosaur Hunter or Friar TUCK) you have to wander the countryside with your friends to find the cure for some strange affliction that will constantly mutate. Also, everyone on the countryside is either extremely hostile or extremely helpless.
Honestly, the game is GOOD but it's also pretty damn complicated. You'd think taking hex style combat akin to Battle Brothers but shrinking it down to 6 party members would make things simpler but that ignores the numerous interactions teammates (and opponents) can have with each other. RNG also doesn't put its thumb on the scales nearly as hard here, for the most part positioning and strategy will be thoroughly rewarded or roundly punished. If I do make a series on this, and I think I'd like to, I need to learn to get better at the game. It's never been my style to just throw something up without knowing what I'm doing and here there's a lot to learn.
Urtuk the Desolation is now out in full release on Steam and it is definitely worth your attention.
