USB C VS Thunderbolt - What's the REAL difference?
So, what’s The Real Difference Between A Thunderbolt Dock And A USB C Hub For Your Mac or iPad Pro?
Do you really need a Thunderbolt dock for your MacBook or iPad Pro, or indeed any Mac desktop or Windows laptop or desktop that has Thunderbolt ports? Or, is a USB C hub all that you need?
In this video I explain what the differences are between a USB C hub and Thunderbolt dock for their HDMI output, USB sockets, ethernet and USB C power input and power pass through.
Don't forget, any Mac, iPad or Windows PC that has Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connections will also accept USB C on those ports as well and USB C hubs are usually a lot cheaper than Thunderbolt docks.
In this video I use the terms Dock & Hub interchangeably as they are described as being the same, the only difference is if they are USB C or Thunderbolt docks or hubs.
So the question you need to ask yourself is. Do you really need spend on something that you don't need or use?
