In this video, the Phresh Ninja has come back once again to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 but this time on PC he has applied a Venom character mod and Venom wings mod. Venom replaces Peter Parker as a special cosmetic skin in place of the symbiote suit. These ports from Playstation to PC aren't for beginners to tinker with. PC ports of video games have two big advantages. The first is obviously higher fidelity graphics options. The second being able to implement modifications like this character replacer mod. However, individuals often have some major difficulty finding the correct combination of graphics options to hit the optimized settings target. The Phresh Ninja is very experienced in optimizing all of his PC games.
The Phresh Ninja is a bit disappointed that reviewers have given this game a lower score than it deserves. Understandably with the immense amount of graphics options, this game is even more challenging to hit the sweet spot for optimization than other PC games. The Phresh Ninja reports that he overcame some of the challenges with the following solutions.
upgraded the Nvidia GeForce driver to the latest version 572.16.
this corrected any game crashes and he didn't experience any crashes afterwards.
used a PS5 Dualsense configuration within reWASD software to force DualSense drivers.
this corrected the lack of vibration haptics when using a wired DualSense controller. This however changed the on-screen button prompts to change from PS5 buttons to PS4 buttons. An acceptable compromise.
enabled DLSS and frame generation.
this corrected low frame rates and bad visual quality caused by FSR.
disabled all Raytracing except for Raytraced reflections.
this boosted performance and helped to stay above 60 frames per second.
It's incredible to see Venom in action with all of his animations and special attacks. The Venom Wings enables extremely fast traversal which is at least twice as fast as normal gliding, or swinging, and enables almost limitless flying. He feels like an overpowered superhero like Superman. The mods aren't perfect though. The Venom model's limbs starts to bend and warp in weird ways when doing things like perching on top of objects, or when stopping thugs in vehicle chases. Also since the Venom model is huge like the Hulk, the hit boxes in combat don't match the animations when striking enemies.
