UV Fast Speedrun of No Rest For The Living Map 05 in 9:55
35"Vivisection: Experimental surgery conducted on a living organism". What an unforgettable map, with quite an unforgettable name. This map is ruthless; it is composed of monsters-traps within monster-traps within monster-traps. The map itself is quite small, and the only way to fit 240 monsters in it is by using teleporters; as addicional monster-traps, of course. Health management is very tight, and there's virtually no armor: you only get 1 green armor half-way through the level, and 1 blue armor almost at the end. You also only get the SSG half-way through the level, which means you need to slowly kill several cacos, hell knights, and mancubi with the shotgun and the chaingun. Ammo management is also tight, so provoking infights is a must.
With the added difficulty of fast monsters, the survival rate of this map is less than 2%. There are many parts of this run that could be done more aggressively, and thus faster. I tried a few, but they only reduce the survival rate even lower. So, ultimately, I had to use several safe strats. My objective was getting below 10mins, but I didn't expect it would take 500 attemps to get there.
