Update: this record was beaten by 4shockblast, who managed to pull this off in 21s (which I thought was impossible!)

Woohoo! Another 19 year old record beaten :) And quite a brutal one too with that final rocket jump. Most of the time invested in this run were not really attempts, but practice: loading a save-game over and over again to repeat the rocket jump. Must have done that some 400 times until I got enough muscle memory to do the jump successfully 80% of the time. Then I started doing runs and practicing the starting part, which also requires some muscle memory to open the doors and move past them quickly, and also to maneuver past the monsters and barrels while trying to keep at least 130% health for the rocket jump later.

I pretty much just used the route of [Vincent Catalaa, 2001]. The only with a small change I made was: while waiting on the lift to go to the supercharge, shooting a rocket on the wall to clear any enemies below that would block my path 1 second later when I started to move. This change does provide any time gain; it just makes runs more stable / with a higher success rate. It's one less variable to go wrong and cause resets.

This run of [Vincent Catalaa, 2001] was already VERY optimized, and so is mine, which just beats his record by a few frames. I did ONE movement mistake at the end of the run after getting past the pinky: I ran into a wall. Without that mistake, and smoother movement overall, it should be possible to get this record down by a few more frames. However, I don't think it's possible to go below 22 seconds; not without a new strategy anyway.
