Valor & Victory: Shield of Cholm DLC "Red Ruin Roulette" Playthrough
The fourth entry in a series on the digital adaptation of Barry Doyle's "Valor & Victory" published by Slitherine Games with the programming being done by Yobowargames. This entry looks at the game's second DLC which covers the oft-overlooked defense of the Russian town of Cholm by encircled German forces in the early days of 1942.
Valor & Victory is a tactical, squad-level wargame and there are Hexed & Countered videos on the base game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_wRQfmgBCU) and the newest DLC "Arnhem" (https://youtu.be/XGgEeuMBaFs) and a video covering the "Stalingrad" DLC (https://youtu.be/VCaj8EfWRjI).
This is a playthrough of the "Red Ruin Roulette" scenario, playing from the attacking (Soviet) side, a last-ditch attempt to capture the town of Cholm before German reinforcements can arrive in force. The Red Army throws a mix of conscript and regular infantry supported by a mixed bag of armor (so T-60s and KV-1 tanks) at the German defenders who are reinforced during the battle. Historically, the siege of Cholm lasted over 100 days and ultimately the German forces were relieved.
