Vanquish GOD HARD MODE Tutorial With Commentary (Single Video Version,Easy Methods,Xbox One)
5Around 25 hours 23 minutes to beat this mode. This video breaks down all the strategies I used and exploits I found. I beat this mode around 9 years ago in 2011. This mode is brutal mainly because of the final boss fight. Back then I estimate the first checkpoint of the final boss took me 10-20 hours to finally beat. I took a 2 month break when I first got to that part. It was like a brick wall, but eventually it came together. The final boss (bogies) only took me around 3 1/2 hours this time around. For some reason the final checkpoint of Burns took me around 6 hours this time. Improvements to overall gaming skill and adaptability over the last 9 years I believe sped things up.
This tutorial should be very helpful as it reduces many brutal segments into simple strategies and exploits I found. There is no way around the brutal final boss encounter though. The strategy I use is one Ive never seen demonstrated before but is very dangerous, as it leaves you vulnerable for most of the fight. Its a different approach though and should give players an alternative strategy to consider. Expect the final boss to be INSANELY more difficult that anything in the rest of the game.
One thing I failed to mention in this tutorial, for the first final boss checkpoint, try not to use rockets unless its with the stun , melee combo I detailed. Using rockets at any other time means possibly having to rely on regular weapons to take off the rest of his health. This is much slower with ranged weapons. Keep the shotgun as one of your weapons as you can roll back and dodge his close range sword attacks and counter with the shotgun, doing alot of damage. If done right you can keep stunning him and repeating. Thats given the other bogie isnt killing you while you do it. My method relies on most of the damage being done with that specific combo. Theres only 6 rockets available and you need to do this combo about 5 or 6 times to win. So keep in mind that you may have to do some other damage if you waste a few without the combo. If you use them they work well at close range when he comes down to fight you on foot. I do use them sometimes when Im out of stuns, but its never optimal. Once his health is down to the letters "BOG" you most likely just need to survive and dodge a little longer for the the quick time event triggers, then just mash X. It doesnt always trigger immediately.
Aside from the final boss encounter , the hardest regular checkpoints are taking the hill in Act 2, The triple drill bot sniper pit and the final checkpoint of the Burns fight. The strategies I have for those parts should make them much more managable. In the end you will need to develop alot of skill to get that completion of God Hard Mode however. The final boss checkpoint is one of the hardest segments Ive ever completed in a game. Ive done some very extreme challenges and this is at the top for a single part. I was surprised to beat it as quickly as I did this time. I started on God Hard Mode this time using a code to unlock the mode immediately. So I had to re-learn the game the hard way. I remember back when I beat this mode the leaderboards went from 1000's of players getting to the final boss down to around 90 people who actually completed it. Videos of it were very rare, and unfortunately I didnt have capture capabilities back then. Some other insane modes are on my hitlist to re-beat one day for the channel. Titan Mode in God Of War 2 is another one I may revisit one day. Alma 2 on Master Ninja Mode with No Healing in NGB's Mission mode is another extreme challenge that competes with this. This is a rare level of brutality though, but one of the best games and very satisfying to finally complete.
