Vay (Sega CD/iOS) Cutscenes and Character Sprites - NintendoComplete
A compilation of all of the cutscenes and battle sprites from Working Design's 1994 Sega CD game, Vay.
If you are looking to see the full game, please check out my playthrough of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5otYb_WsCA0
The cinema scenes were some of the best parts of this classic RPG, and they differ across versions, so I thought I'd put them all here in an easily-digestible format. Some of the cutscenes were removed from the final game - they have been included here (though they have no sound). After the cinematics, I show the game's in-battle monster sprite sheets - there's a lot of neat stuff there, and it really shows you just how detailed the pixel-art and animation really was.
00:03 Shows a hidden room in the Sega CD version that gives you access to all of the cinematics. To access this room, from the very beginning of the game, go into the room behind the throne of Lorath Castle, go into the secret passage on the right hand wall, and when you are in the position I show below the treasure chests, hit A+B+C+Start on the second controller. Through this room I show all of the cinematics as they were presented in the initial 1994 US release of the game.
14:24 Shows all of the cinematics from the game as they appeared in SoMoGa's 2008 iOS port of Vay. The files were all stored in QuickTime video format, and since the iOS port was a retranslation of the original Japanese title, the entire thing has been redubbed in English.
27:59 Shows all of the cinematics from the Japanese version of Vay. These were taken from the video files in the iOS port, but they audio is the same as it was in the original 1993 Mega CD release.
37:30 Shows all of the enemy sprite sheets pulled directly from the iOS port's asset files. They haven't been redone or touched up -they same as in the Sega CD game.
