Over the last 20 years game developers and venture capitalists have had an uneasy relationship. VCs often want to invest in technology, not in one off products. Game developers want to make games. This can mean that VCs see developers as participating in a "hits driven business", but is building technology any less "hits driven" than building a popular game franchise? Is owning a technology company any more lucrative than owning one or more great games? These are the ideas we will explore with a panel of experienced Seattle based venture capitalists.
