VIC3 A Short Review
653Victoria 3 is the newest Paradox Interactive Game that has just came out, here are my thoughts on it and where I think it will end up going forward. I love the VIC series, and was a avid player of VIC2 and will be of VIC3 so I am excited to have all the fans get to play VIC3!

Victoria 3 is finally releasing today, and after spending around 40 hours with it here are my main takeaways.
The game feels like a wonderful economic and political simulator, with the same nuanced and unique approach to pops and more advance world interactions than other paradox titles and Victoria 2. I have to say, that while some flavor is lacking for especially smaller non-european nations I imagine that can be filled in quite easily with future updates by the developers or the wonderful paradox mod making community.
Victoria 3 truly does mold economics to a newer fanbase, while allowing for more experienced players to dive heavily into a rich and interwoven worldwide system. While from some studies fans have done, we can see that players can well outpace the ai in terms of economic growth , I feel that the ai will be patched and updated as time goes on to make it excel.
On the note of AI, the launch patch certainly has various glitches, bugs and issues that can cause the game to crash, especially when playing a larger multiplayer game or into the later years of Victoria 3., This is an issue that once a significant amount of players play the game is unfortunately the only true way paradox can find out all of the problems and quickly address them.
My biggest problem with the game, and what many people have come to grips with is the war system. I know that victoria 3 is mainly a economic and political simulator, but you cannot completely disengage that from the countless wars that historically happened in the real life and that most players will have to engage in in game. It is unfortunate that the war system on launch and for some time will be so barebones, I do not think that a massive shift to war from all other paradox titles is bad, but at least better autonomy would be greatly appreciated, and should be in the horizon in the future
Many new reviews have raved about this game, while the older vic2 fanbase has been stuck in their ways about how to feel about it. Personally I would recommend buying this game if you are interested in playing a fun simulator about economy and interactions (non-war based) between nations, or to invest early on in paradox’s vision. If you have some doubt just wait it out and get the game on sale in the next few months or for the first major update, both seem to be fair and valid choices. I hope all of you enjoy the launch no matter your decision and I hope Victoria 3 succeeds, sincerely WonderProductions.
