I hated this book. I felt like I was reading a draft translation in need of an edit or at least another pass over before the editor got a hold of it. For some reason sentences which should have been in the body of the book were placed in footnotes. I have no idea why they did this, but it made an already confusing book even more baffling.
If you didn't know anything about role playing games before picking this book up you would get the impression they began and ended with Dragon Quest. The titles which started the genre are ignored either intentionally or because the author didn't know about them. This was a very frustrating book to read because of the terrible translation and the delusional look at the history of RPGs.
