Hey guys, as you know I change things up a lot in the Man Cave and how I produce my videos. For the longest time I have been using two 500 watt halogen umbrella lights to provide the scene lighting for my videos. The color temp sucked and made everything in the room look too warm and orange. Plus the temp they put out forced me to leave the AC on while shooting and also would make me sweat like a pig.
Now I have replaced those huge power hungry bastards with two F&V HD-R300 LED lamps that each have 300 LEDS, run on just 10 - 18 volts of power and don't produce any heat. They are light weight and can be mounted right on the camera or on lighting stands. They even have a standard tripod mount on them so you can put it right on your standard camera tripod while you're shooting with the camera mobile.
These lights have the fastest changing filters and diffusers I have seen and they are easy to carry around and pack up and can also be used with Umbrellas if you want softer light. They are ballanced to 5500k out of the box which is the color temp I really need when shooting YouTube videos. By switching to these lights I gained a few stops on my camera and was able to lower the ISO from 6500 to 1200 when shooting video to get rid of some of the harsh grain my old videos had and everything is much smoother now.
