Meh... I'm not a big fan of this game... Virtua Fighter 2 Genesis is a modest 2D adaptation of Virtua Fighter 2 (?) developed and published in 1996 by Sega with misleading packaging and connotations, not to mention it feels a little generic and lifeless, as if I was playing some of those exclusive Plug & Play games by Jakks Pacific. The game looks and plays decently enough and the game retains nearly all of its signature traits and moves with Ring Outs and compotent/cheap A.I. (so you'll still curse Pai-chan and some of the later opponents), but... eh. It could've been much better than it was even in 2D and, quite frankly, Virtua Fighter Animation for Game Gear was more entertaining. It does not look, sound, or feel like a late generation Gen/MD title, and even worse, it does not feature Shun or Lion like the REAL VF2, so it's more like Virtua Fighter Genesis... so let's just call it that.

A pirate game was also modeled after this which features characters from Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, and Tekken. This game was also released on PSP within the "Sega Genesis Collection". This is a brief video of the game in action. Enjoy.
