Virtua Fighter 3 Dural バーチャファイター3 デュラル Arcade Technique & Strategy VHS Tape (1996) 1080p 60fps
A VHS tape published by Columbia that was available for sale or rent in Japan in 1996 covering Sega and AM2's Virtua Fighter 3. This fighting game wasn't just popular in Japan...its release was like a cultural event at the time. The full title of this VHS is バーチャファイター3 デュラル 13人キャラクタースーパーファイル集, or Virtua Fighter 3 Dural: 13 Character Super File Compilation. It retailed for 2800 yen (plus tax) and has an official run time of 30 minutes, though it runs a bit longer.
It mostly just shows some moves/techniques for each of the characters, but what's interesting is the commentary, which is done by Virtua Fighter "tetsujin" Kashiwa Jeffry and BunBunMaru, master players of the game at the time whose names should be familiar to fans of VF. They even compete against each other, and they were like esports players before esports...pretty interesting look back at a more "pure" time in gaming.
This video was recorded on a Sharp VC-ES20B S-VHS deck using Sony S-Video cables upscaled to 1080p 60fps via the Framemeister, captured using an AverMedia Live Gamer Mini GC311.
