Capcom Friendly Club "CFC Style '96" September Video Vol. 2 Capcom Japan Fan Club VHS 1080p 60fps
A "not for sale" VHS tape distributed to members of the Capcom Friendly Club, the Japanese fan club for Capcom in the 1990s. Receiving video tapes like this was just one of the many perks membership offered.
This volume includes three main segments, the first of which showcases the awesome Street Fighter Zero (Alpha) 2 commercial that aired in Japan, including a "making of" feature. It goes through the entire process--filming on location with actors and staff, animating the characters (using some pretty vintage graphic design tablets and software), voicing Sakura and finally the editing process. It's pretty interesting and shows how much work goes into even just a seemingly simple and short TV spot.
Second is a report from the 1996 Tokyo Game Show, featuring the Capcom booth, some (awkward) interviews with some of the fans in attendance, and previews of the upcoming games that were presented at the convention (mostly PlayStation and Saturn). I'll list these later.
The third portion of the video shows extended previews of the arcade releases of X-Men Vs. Street Fighter and War-Zard (aka Red Earth). These trailers are fantastic and really get you excited for the games...man, if I had seen these in '96 I would have been PUMPED! Hell, in 2021, watching them gets me PUMPED!
At the end of the video are some special prizes that club members could win. Really neat stuff in there. Anyway, I have a bunch of these videos, and while most or all of these have already been uploaded to the internet, if I find the time I will probably upload my own rips.
Some of the games featured are:
Street Fighter ZERO 2 ストリートファイターZERO2
Star Gladiator スターグラディエーター
Super Puzzle Fighter II X (Turbo) スーパーパズルファイターIIX
Super Pang Collection スーパーパンコレクション
Rockman 8 (Mega Man 8) ロックマン8
Biohazard 2 PROTOTYPE (Resident Evil 1.5) バイオハザード2 PROTOTYPE
Breath of Fire III ブレス オブ ファイア III
This video was recorded on a Sharp VC-ES20B S-VHS deck using Sony S-Video cables upscaled to 1080p 60fps via the Framemeister, captured using an AverMedia Live Gamer Mini GC311.
