Vlogging On An iPhone SE 2020
The idea for this first about vlogging with the iPhone SE 2020, or is it the iPhone SE 2. Was to use it for vlogging in its most basic and fundamental way, with the basic Apple camera app and the internal microphones.
As you can see, things didn't go too well. It's obvious before I go out and do the vlog that I'm really looking forward to using the iPhone SE and was obviously expecting really good results and I was proper excited and couldn't wait to get out with it.
The problem with the iPhone SE and its camera system became very obvious really quickly, many of the colors were far too saturated and especially skin tones. My skin tone was going into orange quite a bit on both the front and back cameras.
While I think the iPhone SE does really well to try and track your face and keep focus and exposure set for you and your face in the frame, which is absolutely a must for vlogging. There were other problems wit exposure were it was burning and blowing out, you can see this happen on my face a few times. There were also focus issues and light refraction issues that showed up as very heavy flares and also a very noticeable light orb that tracked right across the screen when the moving.
To be honest, I could live with certain issues, the odd flare, the odd burn out, the odd soft focus but that consistent heavily saturated color issue with the iPhone issue becomes a seriously big problem with skin tones that just wrecks the shot in my opinion.
Like I said in the video, the idea here was for a nice simple easy vlogging setup that anyone could do. I will see if there's a way to use another camera video app, something simple, that can be used instead of the Apple camera app that will not over saturate the color.
