178VORPX DOLPHIN PROFILE - Which is better? Dolphin VR or Vorpx attached to Dolphin emulator? Both offer the ability to run Gamecube games in VR and after running a few initial tests it seems that they both offer extremely different experiences meaning you probably need both to have a best options on how to play gamecube games in VR.
In this video I test the following games in immersive screen mode using Vorpx attached to Dolphin VR and captured this Vorpx dolphin gameplay using Oculus mirror:
- Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 (Tony Hawks VR!)
- The Simpsons Hit and Run (Simpsons Hit and Run VR!!)
- Ultimate Spiderman
- Timesplitters 2
- Super Monkey Ball
Vorpx allowed me achieve a fantastic 3D image for all of the above games and the immersive screen mode gave me an amazing up close & personal experience with all of the Gamecube VR games I tested. If however you want a slightly more relaxed experience but still want to retain the incredible 3D visuals then access the Vorpx menus and switch over to Cinema mode, which places you ina virtual seat playing your Gamecube games in VR on a huge 3D screen in front of you.
But does this mean the Vorpx Dolphin profile makes Dolphin VR redundant when it comes to chosing your prefered VR emulator?
Not entirely no. I would still say Dolphin VR is the go to application for all encompassing, immersive experiences with full head tracking. Games like Metroid Prime work like a dream in Dolphin VR and I've yet to be able to emulate those kind of almost fully VR experiences in Vorpx. So having both applications for your Gamecube games in VR is the smartest decision.
