Ⓦ Dead Space 3 Walkthrough ▪ Impossible - Chapter 4
Alright, so I changed my mind again. xD
Mainly, I decided to continue Impossible because of the optional missions; there's no point whatsoever to doing them on Pure Survival (because you don't find any parts/circuits), and little point to doing most of them on Classic and Hardcore (the former because the weapon parts are gone, and the latter because the rewards often aren't worth the extra risk).
Plus, I've already started my Impossible videos and felt like I was finally ready to just keep going on it. For now, I'll just record Impossible and worry about what to do for the "special" difficulty settings later.
Anyways, this Chapter runs pretty long, since there's a lot of zero-G space to explore (technically, you can explore the area outside the Roanoke right at the start of Chapter 3, but I didn't feel like doing that at the time), as well as the optional mission on the Greely.
Some items of interest:
- Shoot the deer head mounted on the wall in front of the Admiral's quarters for some Tungsten (and an achievement/trophy, if you care about that)
- Grab the Diffraction Torus in the zero-G area outside the Roanoke (shown at around ~13:20 in the video). You can sell this for 25 Tungsten, or combine it with a Telemetry Spike (you can find one of these in the room that requires a Torque Bar on the Greely) on a Heavy Frame for a Chain Gun, among other things.
- The Nest in the area around the Brusilov will drop a Spare Parts box when killed. Turn in to the nearest Bench for some Tungsten.
With all 3 things listed above, you should be able to get at least 40 Tungsten, which is enough to unlock two upgrade circuit slots on a weapon frame. If you use the Shotgun at this point like I do, this means you can now get +4 Damage on it, the magical number it requires to one-shot-kill most basic enemies on Impossible.
Do note that if you're playing on Hard (or one of the "special" difficulties), it only takes +2 Damage to one-shot most basic enemies with the Shotgun, so you'd probably be better off keeping the Diffraction Torus in that case.
Another thing I'd like to point out for anyone who hasn't noticed: making any adjustment to a weapon in the "Weapon Crafting" section of a Bench will refill its clip for free (note: Isaac has to go through his little "working" animation for it to count). While this really isn't necessary on Impossible, those of you playing Pure Survival might find this helpful to (ab)use.
Also, I wanted to explain that so people wouldn't wonder what the hell I'm doing when I go to a Bench just to switch two circuits/attachments around or dismantle+reassemble a weapon for seemingly no reason. =P
