Ⓦ State of Decay Lifeline Walkthrough ▪ Part 1, Saving Thomas Horn and Other Stuff
50Some basic tips:
- Don't neglect resource outposts in Lifeline just because there's no offline simulation. There's still a "simulation" that runs after each siege which subtracts/adds resources as usual (so your resources could potentially drain much faster than they do in the original game/Breakdown). You can see this in the "SUMMARY" journal entries that pop up after each siege.
There's not much Ammo (resource) on the map, so any buildings with Ammo stashes should have priority on outpost placement (empty outposts no longer produce Ammo as per the 4/24 PC patch and Title Update 5). In addition to the police station and gun shop, the "Coach Keel's Man Cave" warehouse (~3:10 in the video) north of where you rescue Thomas Horn almost always has Ammo.
Losing fewer resources after each siege means less time needs to be spent scavenging and less influence needs to be spent calling for supplies.
- There's no rush to go rescue Thomas Horn until you approach the mission area. Take the time to go around the map setting up your outposts and scavenging.
In particular, hit up all the various delivery trucks carrying guns, which should net you about half a dozen M32 grenade launchers (the police station should have 1-2 Riot GL's, as well). Equip as many of your characters with grenade launchers as you can to make sieges much easier.
