Single cap variant - difficult match ahead. Speedy Crusader Mk III gets it's tracks wet first racing to the zone. While we are not clearly beaten to it our position on the hill crest is worse for sure (thanks Gaijin, glorious map design!). With driving into the zone to stop the enemy from capturing it we would be in plain view for numerous enemies so no one of us really wants to go forward. Despite the good gun depression on the British tanks I run into some issues here and there because the angle is still too steep. I know that the points were slowly running out for our team but kill wise it looked like we could actually make slow but steady progress, clearing our path to the required zone capture. Things change when an enemy M4 Sherman arrives on the scene. He slowly wears down the StuG III A that was fighting next to me. I try to damage the Sherman but despite green target markers I don't get a single damaging hit on him. At this distance and with the ammo I'm using the gun just doesn't seem to cut it.
I knew that now we were in trouble so I decided to hit the reverse and try to go around the hill, entering the all important zone from the other side. Loads of enemies there, too, but now I want to force the issue. I get an unlucky hit that sets me on fire and I don't have FPE unlocked yet so that is it. But I keep on fighting and manage to take two enemies down with me, damaging others. But what's way more important is the chaos that transpired by my forward dash. Team is able to capture the zone in the aftermath. I head out with my next tank, the Valentine Mk I, with a short fighter sequence in between.
I don't head straight for the zone but drive along the outskirts of the actual fighting area so that I'm able to kind of flank the enemy forces while they try to get close to the zone again. Aside from some lone warriors we push the enemy back to their zone, encircling them. Now it's more or less wearing them down while waiting for the match to end. Difficult engagement vs. a 88mm Flak 37 Sfl. but despite our weak guns we are too many to keep at bay and the truck finally goes down thanks to our combined effort. Now in the end I do end up kind of spawn camping. It was just a natural path to take while trying to move our defense forward, closer to the enemy and away from the zone. The last tank shows all red markers and I don't shoot my main gun, waiting for it to change color as soon as the spawn protection runs out. But as you can see my gun just wasn't able to pen the side of his tank, there was no spawn protection active. Could have noticed it because I got points by hitting it with a machine gun but oh well. With the British every win feels like you accomplished something. The guns, the ammo, the armor - oh my!
