A common sight in low to medium Battle Rating games, the I-16 Type 18 Ishak is a deadly little fighter. Possessing low durability and high flammability by comparison with a portion of its contemporaries, one has to manipulate the brilliant agility of this aircraft in order to dodge incoming fire, and retaliate accordingly with the four 7.62mm ShKAS Machine Guns which work rather well at close range.

Of course, packing solely the Machine Guns does not always guarantee the kill, nor your safety, and so loading the additional ordinance of six RS-82 rockets can even the odds immensely, especially if you have to pursue enemy Medium Bombers such as the B-25 Mitchell or the H6K.

Nonetheless, due to the pre-war nature of this Fighter, its top speed is limited and its acceleration is only noticeable within the 200-300km/h range. Tie this in with weak performance beyond 4000m altitude (even without the Rockets weighing down the decent climb-rate somewhat), and your ability to almost turn with bi-planes, and you have yourself one lovely little pocket rocket fighter.
