War Thunder: BF 109 E-1 - One Last Try
For its Battle Rating of 1.7, the BF 109 E-1 will feel rather out of place by comparison with the rest of its bi-plane and early monoplane contemporaries. It possesses a poor turning circle, along with a drop off in performance at altitudes below 3000m, making it unsuitable for the turn-fights that are commonplace at this Battle Rating.
On top of this, the plane also lacks a definitive punch in its four 7.92mm MG 17 Machine Guns, and so planes even with small amounts of armour will be able to soak up incoming fire by comparison to the moderate durability of the E-1.
Nonetheless, to offset this you have perhaps the best energy fighter for the Battle Rating set: the DB 601A-1 engine provides you with a high top speed, monstrous acceleration and a brilliant climb rate. This allows you to always frustrate your foes who would love to drag you into a turn fight, and so long as you keep your speed between 350-500km/h, the rudder, elevator and aileron response of this aircraft allows you to dodge any incoming fire.
Ergo, this plane requires the pilot to set-up multiple passes on his/her foes; passing through furballs to inflict damage on mutliple opponents which may result in assists or kills from additional passes. This approach can also be adopted to bomber hunting, especially seeing as you are one of the few aircraft with the performance to intercept bombers quickly up at altitudes of 4000m+.
Set-up:
7.92mm Machine Guns: Omni-Purpose Belts
Gun Convergence: 300m
Fuel Load: 30 minutes
